Once Ida nearly died at the hands of a killer. Now she’s trying to live again, to forget the monsters in her head. But the nightmares are coming back, more terrible than ever.
Because Ida, working as a journalist, has uncovered evidence of a serial killer stalking Helsinki’s streets.
And no one—not even homicide officer Kerttu Leppänen, tortured by her own demons—can stop them.
Sometimes the monsters are real. And hunting them can destroy you.
Author guide:
Sanoma House Finland’s biggest newpaper Helsingin Sanomat has it’s editorial office in Sanoma House. It is located in Finlandia Park in the city centre. Ida and Arto work together in the newspaper (though in the book it’s called Helsinki Today).
* Uutela nature reserve Uutela is located in the eastern part of Helsinki. It’s Finland nature at its best: there is both sea and an old forest. Ida burns her clothes in the Uutela because she is afraid that the police will think that they are evidence for a murder.
* Hakaniemi market square Traditional market square that was opened the year 1897. One of the book’s victims – a homeless man – is killed there.
* Helsinki main police station Pasila Kerttu – the head of Helsinki’s police’s murder squad – works there.
* Helsinki Airport The airport’s name is kind of confusing because it is located in the city of Vantaa 21 kilometres from Helsinki. It was built for the Helsinki Summer Olympics 1952. Kerttu flies back to Finland after her holiday in Dresden where she visited an art museum.
