Detective Laurent Bisset has reluctantly closed a most puzzling case. Fairgoers have been vanishing while riding a dazzling carousel. The only man who could be responsible is behind bars – but Laurent cannot explain what happened to those missing.
Chicago, 1920
Maisie Marlowe acquires a beautiful, antique carousel, and sets up the Silver Kingdom amusement park. It is a place of delight and wonder – until a child goes missing on its most famous ride.
When rumours of the Chicago disappearance reach Laurent, he crosses the Atlantic in search of new answers to an old mystery.
Together, can he and Maisie uncover the carousel’s secret before it claims another?

We start on this small Essex island where Maisie lives with The Sixpences as that is the price the family put on the orphans they take in. We see them move to fictional Jesserton before Maisie heads to the USA.
Chicago
Jackson Park – The 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, known as the “White City,” was a landmark fair featuring the first Ferris wheel! Is this the site of the fictional Silver Kingdom.
Paris
Back in 1920 we head to Paris and find Laurent Bisset, a detective who discovers the mystery of the carousel and wonders if the missing children associated with it in France also happened in Chicago.
