She only looked away for a second…
Anne White only looked away for a second, but that’s all it took to lose sight of her young daughter.
But seven years later, Abigail is found.
And as Anne struggles to connect with her teenage daughter, she begins to question how much Abigail remembers about the day she disappeared…
The action takes place largely in Lincolnshire after the girl is found in London. The places are vague and unnecessary anyway really. What is important is the search for the girl, the waiting for her to be found and the shock when she is. She returns with another missing girl too. This is reminiscent of the Stephen Stayner case in America and the programme Thirteen. Stephen also returned after seven years and himself rescued a boy who has recently been kidnapped by his own tormentor.
In this story however, are things as they seem? The setting is one of darkness and suspicion. It’s a tangled web of deceit and intrigue.
