What you need to know before your trail

Alison and Roger, step brother and sister, have been brought to a quiet Welsh valley for a holiday. Roger’s father Clive is married to Alison’s Mother and so the two youngsters are forced to make do with sharing their parent as well as their personal space.

When Alison hears scratching noises in the attic she goes to explore and finds some pattered plates. When she places them together she finds that the pattern is unique, and when she traces it and cuts it out, it forms the shape of an owl…

She makes the paper shapes and they disappear along with the pattern on the plates…..just what is happening?

Travel Guide

The house in the Welsh Valley is one that Alison’s uncle used to own. It is a perfect place for a summer holiday – flowers and fauna all around and lots of space to explore. There are also two interesting characters living there in the form of Huw, the mad gardener and Nancy the housekeeper. Nancy’s son Gwyn is also a regular visitor.

This Welsh Valley, the house itself, the area is never named or clearly mentioned but the Welsh setting is clear. There is lots of Welsh folk lore and mystery here – all stored in one little attic and when it opens – ancient powers, spooky owls, chilling scratching noises….

The myths and folklore contained in the story are inspired by the The-Mabinogion myths.
