The locations in the novel are vague but Long Island Sound is mentioned and the surrounding area. This is a holiday spent on the beach, at a beach house and that breezy, seaside world we all dream of. However, life here is no dream. This novel despite it being hailed as a love story is very dark in places and there are some very serious issues described and explored.
