South of France
Locations are vague in the novel but to be honest, as long as you are dreaming of a French villa in the South of France and on the edge of a cliff no less, there is a number of places it could be.
The South of France is evoked with the weather, tranquillity and calmness of that part of the world. The part where it would be ideal for two writers to go and get stuck into their work in progress.
New York is explored fleetingly and again is not key to the novel apart from being the place where the characters are from before they go on that writing retreat….
