Oh to go around Amsterdam with this book would take you to some lovely canals but some dark corners too. OK, so you would attend a party to beat all parties in a stunning Amsterdam canal house. However – this is not the kind of party you really want to be at.
You get to see the seedy side of the city, but more interesting than that, an experience of what its like to live as an expat in a city on your own. Ok, you’re married but you never see him. You are lonely and bored and get involved with a side of the city that you really should not….

Oh this got dark from the off!
We are in Amsterdam. An expat at a party with a friend who has just come back into her life after years apart. A husband who moved you out to a city you don’t know and haven’t made friends in. You go to a party with this friend and you lose her in the crowd. You wake up having been drugged. And, well..it gets worse from here. Not the novel though! – that gets better!
Loved the fact that Ruth Kelly is one of the nicest authors I know yet has one of the most devious minds. She lives in Amsterdam and I am even learning Dutch by reading The Villa which is also one of her books. Not going to go there if she’s around though haha.
What a whip smart and gripping ride this was! The ending was a nice surprise! This is a must read for thriller fans
