What you need to know before your trail

Spike Sanguinetti is usually at home in Gibraltar, working as a lawyer and helping to solve a few crimes along the way. Here, he’s off to Corfu in order to meet up with his legal partner, taking with him his father and on and off girlfriend.

It’s a holiday at first, but not for long as the body of a young Albanian is found and a local man accused of his murder.  Spike reluctantly agrees to take the case.

But this is not going to be as straight forward as he thinks. The testimony of an Albanian girl for one makes him realise that this beautiful island of Corfu is a lot closer to Albania in more ways than one

Travel Guide

Corfu

Sun, sea, sand and scandal. When a young Albanian is found murdered, the dark cloud of intrigue and suspicion floats over from nearby Albania.

The island of Corfu is one associated with sun, wealth, a care free existence for many who have everything that privilege can bring them. Spike’s holiday is in this luxury paradise, marred by the murder of millionaire Sir Leo Hoffman on his nearby estate.

Albania

Over the water,in Albania, someone is watching and waiting. The mafia there has links and connections so powerful that they look to be invincible. Add to that local superstitions and the different belief systems and culture, and the relationship between Albania and Corfu – the dark side in comparison to Corfu’s island paradise, and the scene is set for a explosive finale.

Gibraltar

And of course, let’s not forget the home of Spike Sanguinetti with his unique background. The Rock itself.

Booktrailer Review

Susan:@thebooktrailer

Now on book four, I did read out of order but read all within a short space of time – that’s how good they are. I had a “blimey how on earth have I not been a fan of Thomas Mogford and Spike for years” moments. Well now I am, late to the club but fashionably late I like to think.I have now given myself a severe talking to and shall be paying attention to when the next book comes out.

This is a cracking series of novels and this one a fine addition to the collection. There’s just something very strong about his locations and a wit to the writing that draws you in quickly and takes hold. I am always propelled forward in his novels and this was no different. Something very interesting about Gibraltar and a different part as well to those in previous novels.

There’s also a generous helping of wit and banter in this book. I suspect the author has his tongue firmly in his cheek as he pokes fun at the rich and those who act immorally. I think Spike makes a good character and I’ve enjoyed following him on his journey. It’s always interesting to see a character like this in Kavos of all places.

A strong book four and I can’t wait for book five.
