Off the coast of Cannes, a yacht drifts between the Lérins Islands. On board, Oriana Di Pietro, an Italian publisher and heiress to a famous Milanese family is brutally attacked and dies after ten days in a coma.

A man and three women give their version of the story: Adrien, the victim’s husband, a seductive and mysterious jazz pianist; the elusive Adèle, his young mistress; Justine, the local police officer in charge of the investigation; and finally, Oriana herself, through a harrowing account of the last weeks of her life.
