Sally in the Wood
Sally in the Wood is a curved stretch of road on the Somerset=Wiltshire border that cuts through dense woodland near Bath. Various explanations exists for the location’s strange name and much has been speculated and written about the history and mythology of the area. This novel is loosely inspired by the area and the stories of the Sally in the Wood myth and contains the local real life folly!
Girls from a private school disobey orders and go out in the woods. They are drinking and smoking weed, telling each other stories. One of them is found murdered in a folly…..
Oh this was brimming with atmosphere! Very creepy and enticing like those woods. Very creepy and very nicely done with lots of tension and I did wonder what else I was going to find in that folly!
I love Hannah’s books but it was the fact this was set in a real place with a very strange name and legend attached to it that really got me. Well, this is going to draw a few ghoulish enthusiasts!
