What was supposed to be a nice relaxing holiday where gay men can swim, drink cocktails and relax in the knowledge that Fire Island is where things often hot up, turns into something quite different.

Fire Island is the large central island of the outer barrier parallel to the south shore of Long Island
It has changed somewhat over the years as in 2012, Hurricane Sandy divided Fire Island into two islands. Not many people live here during the winter – it’s more of a holiday island so the setting for a gay getaway is ideal!
There are both quiet villages on Fire Island and larger towns like Ocean Beach and Cherry Grove where the buzz of the island is contained such as in clubs, bars and outdoor restaurnts. Fire Island Pines and Cherry Grove, are apparently the hotspot desinations for LGBT holiday makers.
If you like holidays which aren’t planned, where things change quickly and a new destination just beside New York you may not have heard of before, you could do a lot worse than Fire Island.
