The killer is just getting started…
When three wife beaters are themselves found beaten to death, DC Maggie Jamieson knows she is facing her toughest case yet.
The police suspect that Probation Officer Lucy Sherwood – who is connected to all three victims – is hiding a dark secret. Then a fourth domestic abuser is brutally murdered.
And he is Lucy’s husband.
Now the police are running out of time, but can Maggie really believe her friend Lucy is a cold-blooded killer?
Staffordshire is the setting for the events in this novel as this is where the author worked as a probation officer and cites TAmworth and Stafford as places she was inspired by. However the places in the novel are vague or fictional given the domestic abuse storyline. She has made up names and streets to fit with the story, so this is isn’t a booktrail book but rather one that examines the troubled world of domestic abuse.
Noelle worked as a probation officer until 2017 and she notes that even though changes were implemented in the service in 2015, she has gone ‘ all nostalgic’ and mentioned rules and regulations which would not have been in place after 2017. Probation is not all one service anymore.
