What you need to know before your trail

Television correspondent Alix Phillips breaks rules to bring the most important news to the world. Alongside cameraman Ben Chapman, an ex-Navy Seal, Alix loves the challenges her job brings – now she’s at the center of an explosive  investigating damning allegations involving the vice president of the United States, Tony Clark.

To get to him, she starts looking at someone  who may be the key to exposing frightening secrets. Olympia Foster is the fragile, reclusive widow of America’s most admired senator, who had been destined for the presidency before an assassin’s bullet felled him. Since then, Olympia has found emotional support in Clark, who once wanted her as his wife and now stands as her protector and confidant. When Alix begins to dig deeper, federal agents pick up the trail. Then the threats begin.

This could be one dangerous game, no one was expecting, least of all her.

Travel Guide

USA

Washington

Ever wondered what working in the hot seat of power would be like? What lobbyists do? And What the PResident or Vice president might get up to when non- one is looking? Those corridors of power have ears that’s for sure. Impressive tour here of the various ‘monuments of power’ such as the Supreme Court and of course the White House.

There are several places of note in the US – Most important is Washington DC where the entire scandal erupts. There are flights to New Orleans, North Carolina and Chicago during the investigations but these are fleeting although one restaurant stop in Chicago Les Nomades sounds particularly nice. Apt when you realise how much these characters travel in this book!

Iran

The government:

The current government had been moderate till now, and they didn’t seem happy about the changes either, but the religious leaders had to be respected, whether young Iranian women like it or not. It was always a problem in countries with powerful or extremist factions in the Middle East. The women in rural and more remote area were even more subjugated to ancient rule…..”

The city:

It was near the Tehran Bazaar, with lots of traffic and confusion and people milling about everywhere. The coffee shop was just a hole in the wall they wouldn’t have noticed if it hadn’t been their destination.  It was one of the few coffee shops open to women”

Paris and then Provence

Despite their being in the city for a press conference, they take time out to enjoy the Tuileiries garden and wander around Paris’ streets. They enjoy the food and the atmosphere despite the fact they are there for business. They eat brains and blood sausage before relaxing as they will be travelling out to Provence the following day. A brief visit to  a city they’ll never forget. When the get to Provence and see the lazy way of life, and the fact that people still do good favours for each other in some parts of the world, without wanting something in return, she realises that here, the quality of life is more important than work.
