2025: A detective goes to Capri to try and relax….
For Detective Chief Inspector Joe Mottram, a summer on the island of Capri was meant to be an opportunity to reconnect with his troubled teenage daughter, Angelica, and his Italian in-laws, after his wife’s Francesca’s death by a hit-and-run.
But when a British tourist is found dead and a member of his late wife’s family is accused of murder, Joe is pulled back into a world of police cells, crime scenes and local corruption. As he discovers more about the island, he realises it holds the answers to Francesca’s death, which may not have been a tragic accident after all.
Capri
A very nice place to spend time – even if it is in a fictional murder case
Capri is a rocky island in the Bay of Naples, off the Sorrentine peninsula. The island is famous for the Blue Grotto and is a popular resort destination with historic sites. One tourist attraction mentioned early on in the book is Tiberius’ Leap.
Tiberius’ Leap is a dramatic, high cliff near the ruins of Emperor Tiberius’ Villa Jovis, where legend claims the paranoid emperor had enemies, slaves, or disfavored subjects thrown into the sea for execution.
