What you need to know before your trail

Jack Shepherd is a politically connected American lawyer who trades Washington DC  for the quiet life in Bangkok. Life there is quiet for a while until he walks into a bar on the jet-set island of Phuket and finds the world’s most famous fugitive waiting for him.

Plato Karsarkis is an international celebrity but he’s been accused of him for smuggling Iraqi oil and charged with racketeering and money laundering. He is also suspected of murder. Karsarkis flees the United States and disappears..only to appear in Phuket, here to see Shepherd when not wanting the rest of the world to see him.

He wants Shepherd connections to help him out of the mess he is in. However the US marshals are also in the city looking for him and they also need Shepherd’s help – but what do THEY want with Plato

Travel Guide

Phuket

“It started the way a spy story should start

On a misty night in Phuket

In a little bar”
Jack and wife Anita are on on their honeymoon for goodness sake – with a view from the bar of a tricking panorama of the Andaman Sea. With plans to eat on the beach at Kata beach, this official honeymoon

There’s a mix of expats here but Jack is bored with the ‘expat’ conversations he’s had since being here as Jack himself lives in Thailand. He likes Thailand but he doesn’t like everything about it and has plenty to criticse and be cynical about

Staying on an island resort, he gets to explore and then some. They head up towards the airport to the middle of nowhere to find the house of Plato through the thick palm trees

Phuket does sound like a place of contrasts – palm trees and scooters whizzing up the road on one side, american burger joints
