Investigating a suspicious death at ancient Dumfala castle on the remote Isle of Mull is not what DI Anna Vaughan had planned this Christmas. But when she receives the call on Christmas Eve, she is duty bound to make the treacherous trip to investigate.

But it soon becomes clear the estate’s obsessive owner, Robert Fairlie, is more concerned with safeguarding his lucrative contract for a hit American TV show to be filmed at the castle than with the death of one of his employees. And as Anna turns to the locals for answers, she’s instead faced with an eclectic cast of suspects who seem no more welcoming than Fairlie himself…

Trapped on the estate and cut off from mainland by a fierce winter blizzard, Anna and local DS Lachlan McKay are left completely on their own to catch the killer and untangle the web of secrets that have shrouded this isolated community for years.
