#Booksnaps with Ronnie Turner

  • Submitted: 17th August 2017

Just imagine, a day on the beach, paddling in the sea, sitting on the sand, reading in the sunshine and taking booksnaps? Kindle covers don’t quite match up – you have to have your book with you when you beach read as the Booksnaps are the best.

The blogger behind #BookSnaps is Ronnie Turner and she’s taken quite a few! Look like plane windows as you fly to your literary destination don’t they?

Picnics on the beach are lovely but sand can be a problem. Sand in the book pages is a lovely addition to a beach read though. Makes you remember your holidays days, weeks after you’ve returned home. When it slides out of a book set on  a beach, it’s all rather nice….

With this in mind, blogger Ronnie Turner took two of her favourite reads to the beach, took her #booksnaps which she is known for and this is the result:

USA: The Marsh King’s Daughter

Ronnie’s Review: The Marsh King’s Daughter is definitely what I’d call an unforgettable novel. It is sure to make waves this year. Just a couple of aspects that make it stand out are it’s ability to envelope the reader, keep you glued to the pages and snatch your breath away a little bit more with each passing chapter. I only meant to read a few pages when I started. A few hours later and I was half way through. Expertly plotted and very addictive.

ITALY: Mussolini’s Island – BookTrail

Ronnie asked Sarah Day about the inspiration behind the book (I just love this booksnap as it’s almost as if Ronnie is where the book is set!)

“I’m fascinated by the line between fact and fiction, so I love finding true stories and imagining the spaces in between the certainties. I read about the true story behind Mussolini’s Island in a BBC article , and was so surprised that what happened to the men imprisoned on San Domino wasn’t better known. What really peaked my interest, as well as the facts of what happened, were two things I discovered during some early research – that almost all of the prisoners came from one town, and that they all had knowledge of an unsolved murder which had happened, back in Catania. It was such a compelling set up – the huge injustice done to them, the wider social history, and the idea that they must have taken so many preexisting loves, hates, secrets and resentments to the island with them.”

#Booksnaps is a way of showcasing great books in a lucscoius destination. Ronnie came up with the idea and she wanted to merge her two favourite things – books and the beach! BookSnap tastic. Now then, where’s our camera….where’s YOUR camera? Let’s get some booksnaps on the BookTrail!

More booksnaps to come. Ronnie is back on that beach today whilst the sun still shines so head over to her blog for more. #Booksnaps is a brilliant way to showcase summer reads and Ronnie has promised to pop back on the BookTrail as long as ice cream is on offer.Oh ok then. Arm twisted…. ; )

Send your booksnaps here and Ronnie will judge her favourites and we’ll feature them in an article of summer fun (great when the autumn starts to settle in!)
